This lodge (the most expensive lodging in any U.S. national park) has been serving tourists, sportspeople, and travelers since the 1920s. Nestled off the scenic one-way Jenny Lake Loop Road, bordering a wildflower meadow, its guest cabins are well spaced in lodgepole-pine groves. Cabin interiors, with sturdy pine beds and handmade quilts and electric blankets, live up to the elegant rustic theme, and cabin suites have fireplaces. Breakfast, bicycle use, horseback riding, and dinner are always included the price. Room telephones are provided only on request. Pros: Maximum comfort in a pristine setting; perhaps the best hotel in the national park system. Cons: Very expensive; not suitable for families with kids under 17; pretty formal for a national park property.
