Gillette is especially fitness conscious, and as a result, the town has invested in many new recreational facilities—including a massive $52 million city-schools recreation center and two health clubs—that cities of a similar size lack. There are also more than 37 miles of developed walking trails within the city limits, including paths on the north end of town, off West Warlow Drive, in McManamen Park, a prime bird-watching spot.
The Spirit Hall Ice Arena, at the Cam-Plex in the Wyoming Center, offers a full National Hockey League–size rink and skating lessons, and hosts open skating Friday 8:30–11 PM, Saturday 5–8 PM, and Sunday 3–6 PM.
