Hoquiam

Hoquiam (pronounced hoh-quee-ahm) is a historic lumber town near Aberdeen and the mouth of the Hoquiam River. Both river and town were named for the Chehalis word meaning "hungry for wood." The town was settled in the mid-19th century, around the same time as Aberdeen, and is now a major Grays Harbor port for cargo and fishing vessels. Its industries include canneries and manufacturers of wood products and machine tools.
