Sequim

Sequim (pronounced skwim), incorporated in 1913, is a pleasant old mill town and farming center between the northern foothills of the Olympic Mountains and the southeastern stretch of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. With lots of sunshine, lovely views, and neat, quiet blocks, it's also a popular place to retire. Sequim’s walkable downtown, marked by a historic grain elevator, features a variety of gift and other shops. A few miles to the north is the shallow and fertile Dungeness Valley, which enjoys some of the lowest rainfall in western Washington. Fragrant purple lavender flourishes in local fields. East of town, scenic Sequim Bay is home to the John Wayne Marina. The actor, who navigated local waters aboard his yacht, Wild Goose, donated land for the marina in 1975, four years before his death.
