Fodor's Review

A white picket fence and lovely gardens surround a Victorian hotel that's been continuously operating since it was built in 1896 and offers distinctly decorated rooms, full of fresh flowers, antiques, fine-art prints, wrought-iron beds, vintage wardrobes, and a variety of colors and patterns. Innkeepers Laurie Anderson and David Campiche have run the place for 30 years, recently adding the on-site Shelburne Spa, which offers manicures, pedicures, and Reiki treatments.

A few rooms have balconies; Room 2 features a canopy bed and claw-foot tub and Room 11 has a handsome half-canopy bed and stately wooden walls. The Shelburne Restaurant and Pub has a dark wooden interior and a contemporary American menu dominated by seafood dishes. Homemade pastries and specialty desserts feature fresh local ingredients. The cozy Pub serves lighter fare.
