Southwestern Washington: Places to Explore

Ashford

Ashford sits astride an ancient trans-Cascades trail used by the Yakama Indians to trade with the people of western Washington. The town began as a logging railway terminal; today the village provides access to the Nisqually (Longmire) entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, and caters to 2 million annual visitors with lodges, restaurants, groceries, and gift shops along Highway 706.
