Built for the 1962 World's Fair, the Seattle Monorail is a quick, convenient link between the Seattle Center and Downtown's Westlake Mall, located at Fourth Avenue and Pike Street. Making the 1-mi journey in just two minutes, the monorail departs both points every 10 minutes from 7:30 AM to 11 PM on weekdays and 9 AM to 11 PM weekends. The round-trip fare is $3; children 4 and under ride free. During weekends, Seattle Sonics basketball games, and the Folklife, Bite of Seattle, and Bumbershoot festivals—which all take place at the Seattle Center—you can park in the Bon-Macy's garage at Third Avenue and Stewart Street, take the monorail, and present your monorail ticket stub when you return for discounted parking rates of $5 on Friday and Saturday and $4 on Sunday and Monday.
