Carmelita

Fodor's Review:

Perhaps the best of Seattle's upscale vegetarian spots, Carmelita could convert a carnivore with the smells emanating from the kitchen alone. Everything on the menu is fresh and well prepared: from the beet ravioli to gourmet pizza topped with red-onion marmalade and fontina to the root-vegetable potpie. You will not notice the absence of fish, fowl, or meat stocks in the preparations. This is a popular place, so reservations are recommended. The dining room is lovely, paying homage to the natural world with lots of wood, oil paintings of poppies, and leaf shapes on the ceiling, but if the weather's nice, request a spot on the garden-shrouded patio.
