Hunting lodge–meets–prep school–meets–Capitol Hill hip at Linda Derschang's (of Oddfellows and Linda's) always-busy eatery on 15th Avenue E, a short walk northeast of the Pike–Pine corridor. Taxidermied birds and cheeky oil portraits of ex-presidents fill the walls, and dark booths invite lingering and sipping. Flank steak here is expertly prepared—substitute sweet-potato fries for the regular ones. A grilled Gruyère with onion-jam sandwich is best washed
down with a cold IPA, while a house cocktail goes well with any of the daily specials, which often feature fresh local produce. The burgers are most popular though (with good reason), as are the weekend brunch items.
