West Seattle Junction

Fodor's Review:

Walk through West Seattle's business district, amid the small restaurants, shops, and businesses, and you'll come across works of art depicting scenes from local history. A few play tricks with perspective, reminiscent of the paintings Wile E. Coyote used in his attempts to trick the Roadrunner. The Junction is a perfect example: If not for the row of neatly trimmed laurel bushes just beneath the wall upon which it's painted, you might be tempted to walk right into the picture's 1918 street scene, painted from the perspective of a streetcar. Another mural is taken from a postcard of 1920s Alki. The most colorful, however, is the The Hi-Yu Parade, with its rendition of a Wizard of Oz-theme float reminding locals of a 1973 summer celebration.
