Wine-lovers come for the massive selection—the menu boasts 80 wines by the glass and some 600 bottles—but Purple Café and Wine Bar deserves props for its design, too. Despite the cavernous quality of the space and floor-to-ceiling windows, all eyes are immediately drawn to the 20-foot tower ringed by a spiral staircase that showcases thousands of bottles. There are full lunch and dinner menus (American and Pacific Northwest fare), as well as tasting menus. Try the
popular lobster mac and cheese or a tasty baked Brie. Though Purple is surprisingly unpretentious for a place in the financial district of Downtown, it's sophisticated enough that you'll want to dress up a bit.
