Bars, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
Purple Café and Wine Bar is certainly the biggest wine bar in the city and possibly its most dramatic -- despite the cavernous quality of the space and floor-to-ceiling windows, all eyes are immediately drawn to the 20-foot tower ringed by a spiral staircase that holds thousands of bottles. There are full lunch and dinner menus (American and Pacific Northwest fare), as well as tasting menus. The place does look and function more like a restaurant than a bar, but there are two actual bars to belly up to, and on busy weekend nights it's there where you'll get the better service. Though Purple is surprisingly unpretentious for a place in the financial district, it's sophisticated enough that you'll want to dress up a bit.
