El Camino

El Camino Review

Loose, loud, and funky, this Fremont restaurant gives its own irreverent Northwest interpretation of Mexican cuisine. Rock-shrimp quesadillas, chipotle-pepper and garlic sea bass, and duck with a spicy green sauce are typical of the kitchen's spin. Even a green salad becomes transformed with toasted pumpkin seeds on crispy romaine with a cool garlic, lime juice, and cilantro dressing. Most people come for fried plantains with fantastic guacamole and strong drinks. Weekend brunches are also excellent—everything from standard scrambled eggs and bacon to Mexican favorites like chilaquiles is done well.
