Everyone in Capitol Hill has been to Septième at least once. It's one of the more-reliable (and attractive) restaurants along a congested stretch of Broadway, and it has accommodating hours (9 AM to midnight daily) in a neighborhood where there's a dearth of good mid-range lunch spots. It looks like a French bistro, with its red-walled dining room, banquettes, and tables draped in white cloths, but it mostly serves such American standards as burgers, biscuits and gravy, and sandwiches; at dinner you'll also get pasta and seafood options. It's hard to save room for dessert here, but try anyway—the cakes and tarts in the glass case are as good as they look.
