Green Tortoise Backpacker's Hotel

Fodor's Review:

The Green Tortoise recently moved into spiffier digs and the new facilities and the impressive cleanliness of the place make this a viable option for all sorts of travelers who don't mind sacrificing a little comfort and privacy for the best deal in town. Sure, the majority of guests are in their early twenties, but the Green Tortoise does get its share of thirty- and even fortysomething travelers. Though singles and couples can rent some of the smaller dorm-style rooms as private accommodations, all rooms here share bathrooms. Bathrooms, however, are spacious, clean, and nicely tiled stand-alone units, so you don't have to worry about showering next to strangers. Each bunk bed has its own locker (bring your own lock), light, and fan. The rate includes a breakfast buffet, with waffle fixings and "unlimited eggs." Security cameras in all the halls and public spaces help to keep guests safe.
