Few places are better equipped to help you get a handle on the history of the Pacific Northwest. Since 1952 this museum has collected objects (some dating to 1780) that chronicle the region's economic, social, and cultural history. Factory and mining equipment, gramophones, clothing, newspapers, and everyday items from yesteryear are all on display, many along the re-created Seattle street from the 1880s. The interactive exhibits encourage kids to have fun and learn. On weekends look for educational presentations, family workshops, and historical walks. Students, teachers, and history buffs are always roaming the vast museum library.
