Russian Cobra Submarine

Fodor's Review:

Just south of the ferry terminals, you can tour the torpedo rooms, sonar and radar areas, and crew quarters of a Russian-built Foxtrot Class attack submarine. From 1974 through 1994, this 284-foot sub patrolled the Arctic, Indian, and Pacific oceans on secret Cold War missions. Around 80 crew members spent up to three months at sea in this vessel, which had only three showers and two toilets.

  • Cost: $10
  • Open: Sept.-May, daily 9-5:30; June-Aug., daily 9-8
