Willows Lodge

Fodor's Review:

A dramatically lighted old-growth Douglas fir snag greets you at the entrance to this spa hotel. Timbers salvaged from a 19th-century warehouse lend rustic counterpoints to the lodge's sleek modern design. A stone fireplace dominates the lobby, and contemporary Native American prints and sculptures by area artists adorn the walls and gardens. Each large guest room—categorized by size and amenities as "Nice, Nicer, and Nicest"—has a gas-lighted stone fireplace, oversize soaking tub, CD and DVD players, and bathroom with freestanding stone sinks. Nicer rooms have a courtyard set over the river; the Nicest rooms add this plus a jetted tub. The famous spa provides beauty and rejuvenating treatments, and the Barking Frog restaurant is one of the Northwest's top dining venues. It's pretty far from town, but is a favorite of visitors and Seattleites alike because of its proximity to many wineries, including Chateau Ste. Michelle. Along with trying the Barking Frog, a dinner at the equally famous and nearby Herbfarm restaurant is a must.
