Willows Lodge Review

A dramatically lighted 1,600-year-old Douglas fir snag greets you at the entrance to this elegant spa hotel. Timbers salvaged from a 19th-century warehouse lend rustic counterpoints to the lodge's sleek, modern design. A stone fireplace dominates the lobby, and contemporary Native American prints and sculptures by area artists adorn the walls and gardens. Each large, elegant guest room—categorized by size and amenities as "Nice, Nicer, and Nicest"—has a gas-lighted stone fireplace, oversize soaking tub, CD and DVD players, and bathroom with freestanding marble sinks. Nicer rooms overlook lovely courtyards; the Nicest rooms also have a jetted tub and heated towel racks. The famous spa provides beauty and rejuvenating treatments, and the Barking Frog restaurant is one of the Northwest's top dining venues. It's pretty far from town, but is a favorite of visitors and Seattleites alike because of its proximity to 50 Woodinville-area wineries, including Chateau Ste. Michelle and Columbia Winery, as well as the RedHook Brewery. Along with trying the Barking Frog, a dinner at the equally famous and nearby Herbfarm restaurant is a must—book ahead as it can fill up fast. Or just linger in Fireside Cellars, their casual wine bar, after a day spent biking through the Eastside.
