Pacific Northwest Ballet, the resident Seattle company and school, has an elegant home at the Seattle Center. The season, which runs September through June, has traditionally included a mix of classic and international productions (think Swan Lake and Carmina Burana); however, Peter Boal, a well-known former New York City Ballet principal dancer, shook things up a bit when he took the reins as artistic director in 2006, and the lineup now includes works from celebrated contemporary choreographers like Christopher Wheeldon. Fans of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker can rest assured that those timeless productions are still part of the company's repertoire.
