Brasa

$$-$$$, Mediterranean, Belltown

User Rating: *** 2.8

Fodor's Review:

When famous Seattle chefs set out to open their own restaurants, the results are often even more spectacular than they were in the places they left behind. That's certainly true for Brasa, which is still a Seattle favorite many years after Tamara Murphy, formerly of Campagne, opened its Belltown doors. The paella and roast suckling pig seem to be getting all the praise these days. More traditional are the beef tenderloin and wild king salmon. If you don't want to shell out the big bucks for dinner, join in on one of the city's most popular happy hours. The lounge serves tapas, small plates, pizzas, and sandwiches. The dimly lighted space is sexy and Brasa is a good place to sample the chichi Belltown scene in an established restaurant that has some substance to go with its style.

Terrible dining experience

Posted by relfman from San Francisco on 10/2/07

The most uptight staff I have ever seen. Starting with the sour face hostess and the nervous wreck waitress. We waited over 5 minutes after we sat down to be asked for a drink, the waitress never poured our wine after the first glass,I poured it myself, never asked us if we'd like more wine, the bread basket sat empty the whole meal and we never asked if we wanted more bread, the dirty dishes sat on the table until I aked her to remove them. An expensive restaurant and we had a very uncomfortable time due to the staff. It's as if someone had died there that day.
