Working Waterfront Museum

Fodor's Review:

With its beautiful setting right along the Thea Foss waterfront, the turn-of-the-20th-century, wharf-style structure is easily reached along a walk by the bay. Inside the enormous timber building, displays trace the history of Tacoma's brisk shipping business. Extensive exhibits cover boat-making, importing and exporting, and the development of the waterfront. Photos and relics round out the exhibits, and children's activities are staged monthly. Note: Currently under renovations, the museum will be open for Tall Ships in June 2008, and will open for good early 2009.

  • Cost: $3
  • Open: Mid-Apr.-mid-Oct., weekdays 9-5, weekends noon-5; mid-Oct.-mid-Apr., daily noon-4
