Northwest Trek, a spectacular wildlife park 35 mi south of Puyallup, is devoted to native creatures of the Pacific Northwest. Walking paths wind through natural surroundings—so natural that in 1998 a cougar entered the park and started snacking on the deer (it was finally trapped and relocated to the North Cascades). See beavers, otters, and wolverines; get close to wolves, foxes, coyotes; and observe several species of big cats and bears in wild environments. Admission includes a 55-minute tram ride through fields of wandering moose, elk, bison, and mountain goats. Note: Hours vary slightly by month, so check for specific times.
