Rainfest. A celebration of arts and crafts, highlighted by a quilt show and inspired by the huge annual rainfall of 100-plus inches, takes place mid-April in downtown Forks. 360/374–2531 or 800/443–6757.


Irrigation Festival. For more than 100 years, the people have Sequim have been celebrating the irrigation ditches that brought life-giving water here. Highlights of the nine-day festival include a beauty pageant, logging demonstrations, arts and crafts, classic car show, strongman competition, parades, and a picnic. www.irrigationfestival.com.

Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts. Port Angeles comes alive each May with four days of music, dance, and theater from around the world, as well as children's programs. 360/457–5411. www.jffa.org.


Centrum Summer Arts Festival. This summer-long lineup of concerts and workshops is held at Fort Worden State Park, a 19th-century army base near Port Townsend. 360/385–3102. www.centrum.org.
