Outside the park, small, easygoing cafés and bistros line the main thoroughfares in Sequim, Port Angeles, and Port Townsend, offering cuisine that ranges from hearty American-style fare to more eclectic local flavor.
A tranquil country setting and ocean views at Kalaloch Lodge's restaurant create the perfect backdrop for savoring Pacific Northwest dinner specialties like grilled salmon, fresh shellfish, and elk burgers. Tempting desserts include local fruit tarts and cobblers, flourless chocolate torte, and mocha mud pie. Hearty breakfasts feature sourdough pancakes and make-your-own omelets with cage-free eggs. Lunch favorites are a salmon BLT, fish-and-chips, and clam chowder, as well as burgers, soups, and salads.

Part of the original 1916 lodge, the fir-paneled dining room overlooks the lake; you won't find a better spot for sunset views. Dinner entrées change seasonally and might include wild salmon, brown butter–basted halibut, pot roast, and mushroom polenta; the lunch menu features burgers, inventive salads, and a variety of sandwiches. For breakfast, biscuits and gravy, omelets and scrambles made with cage-free eggs, and marionberry pancakes are some of the tasty selections. Note that meals are offered only during set hours and dinner reservations are recommended, but a more casual menu of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and desserts is available from the lounge all day for dining in the lobby or out on the Sun Porch.

The main Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort restaurant, a rustic, fir-and-cedar-paneled dining room surrounded by trees, turns out big breakfasts daily in summer—hikers can fill up on biscuits and gravy, French toast, and omelets before hitting the trails, or choose lighter fare, there are yogurt and granola parfaits. Dinner features comfort foods like seared salmon, grilled chicken, rib-eye steak, and fish-and-chips. Lunchtime choices include poutine as a starter, as well as sandwiches, burgers, fish tacos, fish-and-chips, and refreshing salads. Don't pass up creative desserts like a warm pineapple citrus cake.
