Greenbank Farm, about halfway up Whidbey Island, comprises 125 acres of loganberry fields encircled by views of the Olympic and Cascade ranges. You can't miss the huge, chestnut-color, two-story barn with the wine vat out front, the centerpiece to this picturesque property. Volunteers harvest the loganberries—which are a cross between blackberries and raspberries—and turn them into rich jams and loganberry wine-filled chocolates. Greenbank's signature loganberry dinner and dessert wines, as well as two dozen or so boutique labels, can be sampled daily in the Greenbank Tasting Room. The adjacent Whidbey Pies Café creates gourmet confections, which disappear quickly as visitors head for the scattered picnic tables, twisted mountain trails, and shimmering pond. Besides wildlife, be on the lookout for the herd of fluffy alpacas raised on site by the Whidbey Island Alpacas company. The 1904 barn, which once housed a winery, is now a community center for farmers' markets, concerts, flea markets, and other events, including the famous Loganberry Festival each July.
