Fodor's Review:

Deception Pass State Park has 19 mi of rocky shore and beaches, three freshwater lakes, and more than 38 mi of forest and meadow trails. The park occupies the northernmost point of Whidbey Island and the southernmost tip of Fidalgo Island, on both sides of the Deception Pass Bridge. Park on Canoe Island and walk across the bridge for views of two dramatic saltwater gorges, whose tidal whirlpools have been known to swallow large logs.

  • Cost: Park free, campsite fees vary
  • Open: Apr.-Sept., daily 6:30AM-dusk; Oct.-Mar., daily 8AM-dusk
