Northwestern Washington Sights

Stehekin

Stehekin Review

In one of the most beautiful and secluded valleys in the Pacific Northwest, Stehekin was homesteaded by hardy souls in the late 19th century. It's not really a town but rather a small community at the north end of Lake Chelan. There's no road; access is by boat or floatplane or on foot. A few facilities serve about 200 summer visitors. Year-round residents enjoy a wilderness lifestyle—there are barely two dozen cars in the whole valley, outside communication is iffy, especially in winter, and supplies arrive once or twice a week by boat.
