Fodor's Review:

The Island County Historical Museum has exhibits on Whidbey's fishing, timber, and agricultural industries, and conducts tours and walks. The square-timber Alexander Blockhouse outside dates from the Puget Sound Indian War of 1855. Note the squared logs and dovetailed joints of the corners—no overlapping log ends. This construction technique was favored by many western Washington pioneers.
