Summit House Review
On top of Crystal Mountain at 6,872 feet is Washington's highest-elevation restaurant. The menu features northwest cuisine, including Dungeness crab cakes, elk medallions, coho salmon, and huckleberry ice cream. With stunning views of Mt. Rainier, the restaurant is a popular stop for skiers, hikers, and summer tourists, too. Sit inside to stay warm by the fireplace, or sit outside on the patio and watch chipmunks run along the nearby rocks. The restaurant is reached by riding the scenic Mt. Rainier Gondola from the base of Crystal Mountain; note that gondola tickets ($20/adults) must be purchased separately. As the only restaurant at the summit, reservations are strongly advised, though walk-ins are accepted when space is available.
