Cave B Inn at Sagecliffe Review

Washington's first destination winery resort is built on (and into) ancient basalt cliffs 900 feet above the Columbia River. The 15 cliff houses, cavern (with 12 rooms), and inn (with three rooms, restaurant, meeting rooms, and spacious lobby) all were designed to blend into the natural environment. The buildings' exterior walls are made of precast concrete embedded with rocks taken from the land. The inn's restaurant, Tendrils ($$-$$$), highlights local produce and Northwest beef and seafood, complemented by the wines produced on-site. Guests can tour the Cave B Estate Winery to taste and learn about the wine-making process. A pleasant spa offers an array of treatments. The outdoor pool is open seasonally, and a golf course is set to open in 2009. Cave B Inn is the first step in a grand plan of owners Vince and Carol Bryan, who want to create a cultural village retreat on this and adjacent land, featuring performances by theater groups and musicians, artists-in-residence, and classes for all ages.
