At the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, a 17,000-acre preserve of rolling hills, pine woods, lakes, and marshes 5 mi south of Cheney, look for ducks and geese, hawks, falcons, and songbirds. It has Washington's only known nesting site of the endangered trumpeter swan.

Cost: $3 Mar.-Oct., free rest of year
Open: Daily dawn-dusk
