Why We Like It

Warm and friendly, with immaculate service, this is a comfortable go-to in central D.C. We love the fact the hotel is within walking distance of so many sights, including the White House, but removed enough that it doesn't feel overwhelming. The outdoor terrace is unbeatable when it comes to sipping a Capital Cooler or 14K Gimlet on one of DC’s infamous sultry summer afternoons.

Fodor's Expert Review

Dating from 1922 and especially popular among the business set, this beaux-arts beauty in the heart of D.C. recently underwent a multimillion renovation that mixes its original classic design with contemporary panache. Hints of its namesake, founding father Alexander Hamilton, can be found throughout, including his silhouette filled with noteworthy quotes in the guest rooms. The onsite restaurant, 14K, is a neighborhood draw, especially for its sidewalk terrace during the warmer months.

You Should Know EOS Investors LLC for Change bought the hotel in September 2017; there are plans to add new facilities and services though specifics are not yet known. Stay tuned!
