Doumar's
Doumar's Review
After he introduced the world to its first ice-cream cone at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Abe Doumar founded this drive-in institution in 1934. It's still operated by his family. Waitresses carry to your car the specialties of the house: barbecue, limeade, and ice cream in waffle cones made according to an original recipe. For breakfast, try the Egg-O-Doumar, a bargain at $2.70. The Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" featured Doumars twice in 2008.

MAEUNC, from North carolina
NEVER again. Really shoud be less than one star. Because of all the hype, my husband and I sought this place out this past Friday. It was packed but I have no idea why!!!!! Being from North Carolina, I should have know better than order BBQ. This minced up meat was quite likely the worst tasting stuff I have ever put in my mouth!!! I have really given it some thought and can not find a truly fitting comparison. This stuff is worse than Old Hickory BBQ in a plastic container. It makes school lunch BBQ seem yummy!!! This stuff gives BBQ a BAD name!!! If you want decent BBQ wait until you can drive 3 hours south. My husband had a cheeseburger that had been cooked sometime that morning and looked like one served in a school cafeteria. The "special" ice cream and cones were disappointing as well. This place is a tourist trap.

Doumar's has been open for business since 1904. And not a whole lot has changed since then. Just like going to and old time diner.
The pulled pork is pretty good. They grind their own hamburger on site for their burgers. The taylor roll's tasty if you're looking for something with a ham/bacon kind of taste. But the soda's the winner at Doumar's. They make their own cherry coke the old way. They use fresh fruit in their orangeade and limeade, and you can taste the difference. And nothing store bought really compares to their root beer.
