Cavalier Hotels

Fodor's Review:

In the quieter north end of town, this 18-acre resort complex combines the original Cavalier Hotel of 1927, a seven-story redbrick building on a hill, with an oceanfront high-rise built across the street in 1973. The clientele is about evenly divided between conventioneers and families. F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald stayed regularly in the original hotel. If you stay in the hilltop building you can see the water—and get to it easily by shuttle van or a short walk. The newer building overlooks 600 feet of private beach. There's a fee for tennis, but the other athletic facilities are free. Pros: great choice of people who appreciate historic properties. Cons: might be too staid for spring-break students.

  • Hotel Details: 400 rooms
  • In-room: Internet.
  • In-hotel: 5 restaurants, tennis courts, pools, gym, beachfront.
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, DC, MC, V
