North Bend Plantation Bed & Breakfast

Fodor's Review:

The road to this historic home winds past trailer homes and cottages before a gravel road turns to the left between farm fields. As a working farm, it stands out from similar B&Bs. The 1819 Greek Revival home was built for Sarah Harrison, sister of President William Henry Harrison, by her husband John Minge. Inside, antebellum-era antiques original to the house, as well as Civil War maps and artifacts decorate every room. Room amenities include robes and TVs. The Southern breakfast here might include buttermilk biscuits, Smithfield ham, apple butter, bacon and sausage, and strong coffee. Pros: set on 850 acres with nature trails, this B&B offers generously sized rooms and peaceful surroundings; golf carts are available to tour the property. Cons: may be too quiet for some.
