There are many bed-and-breakfasts in the Williamsburg area, especially near the James River Plantations off Route 10. Most are housed in historic properties with charming antiques. Rates usually include a full country breakfast.

Virginia Beach Reservations (800/822-3224) can make a reservation in your choice of about 75 hotels. Williamsburg Vacation Reservations (800/446-9244), representing more than 70 hostelries, provides free lodging reservation services.

Apartment and house rentals are not common in the Williamsburg area, but quite the thing to do at Virginia Beach. Rentals vary greatly in size, cost, and degree of luxury, so research possibilities thoroughly.
