Weather

Maryland and Virginia each have four distinct seasons, varying landscapes, and climates that vary accordingly. The summer months in both states tend to be hot and humid, with average temperatures in the high 80s and 90s or above. Winters can be cold, with average temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Major snowstorms do happen occasionally (the blizzards of 2010 broke records). In spring, temperatures tend to be moderate and mild; in fall, moderately cool and crisp. Neither state is especially rainy, although scattered showers and thunderstorms tend to occur seasonally. The mountainous regions can be as much as 10 to 15 degrees cooler.
