Fodor's Expert Review Virginia Aviation Museum

Richmond

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

The legendary SR-71 Blackbird spy plane sits proudly outside this museum. The museum, also home to Virginia's Aviation Hall of Fame, has Captain Dick Merrill's 1930s open-cockpit mail plane; airworthy replicas of the Wright brothers' 1900, 1901, and 1902 gliders; a replica 1903 Flyer; and a World War I SPAD VII in mint condition. Kids, especially, love the planes, many of which they can sit in.
