This hole-in-the-wall barbecue joint has taken off like a house on fire. Owned by a 17-year fire service veteran, and staffed by Henrico County's finest, Halligan is a tribute to firefighters with a 1973 Seagrave fire truck that serves as a backdrop to the bar, authentic helmets doubling as pendant lights, and walls covered with memorabilia. Meat is smoked in-house for hearty Southern favorites like the Carolina-style pulled-pork sandwich, classic chicken, and Texas-style beef brisket. Don't be surprised to hear sirens and see lights set off periodically to salute the customers.
