Occoquan

In between visits to others sites off I-95 like Gunston Hall and Woodlawn, pop over to Occoquan for a relaxing afternoon. This tiny village on the shores of the Occoquan River was founded in 1734 as a trading post. It was the main delivery point for mail between the North and South during the Civil War. Occoquan today is an ideal getaway for antiques and art shopping, or fishing and boating along the river.
