Bernard's Landing. A resort set on Smith Mountain Lake 45 minutes southeast of Roanoke, Bernard's rents one- to three-bedroom condominiums with water views and two- to five-bedroom town houses (all waterfront) for periods of up to two weeks. Because the units are separately owned, the way they are furnished varies widely, but all have full kitchen facilities and private decks. Conferences are scheduled here year-round, and summer vacationers come for the many sports available.
