From the moment you're met at the door, offered an ice-cold martini, and invited to stroll the lovely Victorian gardens while your table is readied, you suspect that dinner at Gabrielle's is going to be your best dining experience in the mountains -- and chances are it will be. The best does come at a price, however. The five-course "grande menu," which changes frequently, is $90, or $110 with paired wines. The somewhat less expensive ($60) prix-fixe menu has items such as rosemary-rubbed rack of lamb and ginger-soy glazed yellowfin tuna. The near-perfect service and the setting in an elegant, art-filled 19th-century cherry-panel space, with piano music in the background, make for a memorable splurge.

This was the best dining experience we've ever had. From the Valet to the house Pianist, from the maitre d' to the servers; this is hands-down one of the best restaurants in the world. We enjoyed the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. The dishes were creative and perfectly prepared all while being complemented with exceptional selections of wine from around the world. Impeccable service in this historic home puts this destination over the top.
