Fodor's Review:

This restored two-story country farmhouse once housed the law offices of Captain Edward Francis Lovill, a decorated Confederate officer and a founding trustee of what became Appalachian State University. Built in 1875 and featuring unusual details such as wormy chestnut woodwork, the inn occupies 11 wooded acres in a quiet area just west of downtown. On the grounds are a picnic area, gardens, and a stream with a waterfall. Some rooms have antique iron bedsteads or sleigh beds and fireplaces. Every evening owners Scott and Anne Peecook host a social hour.
