Hickory Ridge House Review

If you're looking for a relaxing country getaway, this 1808 Federal-style mansion, a former sheep farm set on a wide meadow, is a sure bet. The historic redbrick house has a sturdy comfort that distinguishes it from daintier inns. Owners Gillian and Dennis Pettit, along with their dogs Jack and Gracie, bring an English touch to it all. Most rooms have Rumford fireplaces and canopy beds; all have fine linens. A separate two-bedroom cottage has a full kitchen. Thousands of acres of nature preserve surround the property's 8 acres of cleared meadow, making it great for hiking and cross-country skiing.
