To stay in the heart of town, you won't find a more economical option than the three-story Latchis. The art-deco landmark is run by a nonprofit group dedicated to preserving and restoring the 1938 building. Rooms are not lavish, but they have the original sinks and tiling in the bathrooms. Most overlook Main Street, with New Hampshire's mountains in the background. The lobby has original and notably colorful terrazzo floors. Downstairs you can catch a movie under the impressive
zodiac ceiling of the Latchis Theater or have a beer at the Flat St. Brew Pub.
