While these aren't the best rooms in town, they're not bad and they offer an inexpensive way to stay in an old farmhouse with comfortable common rooms—along with easy access to perhaps the best dining room in southwestern Vermont. The white clapboard farmhouse is part of a former 1870 dairy farm. A deck in back looks out at the smaller farm buildings that dot the 5-acre yard. Rooms display imperfections, like an occasional stain or crack, and the carpeting could use an update, but they are very clean, and the furniture and wallpaper satisfy the colonial farmhouse urge. Pros: great restaurant. Cons: rooms aren't perfectly maintained.
