Don't let the dusty old storefront fool you, Bennington's in-the-know crowd comes here before anywhere else for affordable comfort food and an excellent bar. Directly next door is Pangaea, the fancier twin restaurant, where the menu is somewhat overpriced. We prefer the Lounge, which is handsome and irresistible, with its scuffed-up floor, intimate proportions, and fine approach to simple food and service. At the helm at the corner bar is Jason, an impressive mixologist. The eclectic pub fare includes such dishes as pot roast chimichangas, Cobb salad with Danish blue cheese, salmon burgers, and seared pork loin with a potato croquette. On weekends in warmer months, follow the crowd out the back stairs to the deck.
