One of the country's oldest operating inns, this 1801 classic encourages you to linger on the wraparound porches, in the authentically Colonial common rooms, or with a book by the fire in the old-fashioned library. In the main building graced by two-story-tall white columns are 11 guest rooms; the rest are dispersed among six other close-by buildings. Three dining rooms—one with formal Georgian furniture, another with rustic paneling and low beams, and the third, a sunny garden room used for breakfast—serve American fare focused on seasonal, local foods. You'll also get access to the unique, historic bar at the Phelps Barn Pub. The inn runs the nearby Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center.
