Fodor's Review:

Vermont's second-largest lake, Lake Memphremagog extends from Newport 33 mi north into Canada. Prouty Beach in Newport has camping facilities, tennis courts, and paddleboat and canoe rentals. Watch the sun set from the deck of the East Side Restaurant (Lake St., Newport. 802/334-2340), which serves excellent burgers and prime rib.
