Ruthcliffe Lodge & Restaurant Review

Good food and splendid scenery make this off-the-beaten-path motel directly on Lake Champlain a great value. If you're looking for a cheap, DIY summer place to take in the scenery, canoe the lake, or bicycle, this will do quite nicely. The lodge is on Isle La Motte—a rarely visited island. Rooms are very clean and simple: bed, dresser, night table, and stenciled wall border. Owner-chef Mark Infante specializes in Italian pasta, fish, and meat dishes ($$); there's alfresco seating that overlooks a lawn leading to the lakeshore. A full breakfast is included.
