  Green Mountain Inn Breakfasts Are Great

  We stayed at the Green Mountain Inn and loved the cozy breakfast area that had large windows that brought the natural sunlight in. The buffet included a nice selection of hot and cold foods. The Inn was in easy walking distance of the town and a short drive to an apple cider farm and the Von Trapp (Sound of Music) lodge. The fireplace in the room was a treat!

  Quaint but a little "shabby."

  Just got back from a long weekend in Stowe. After much debate over Stoweflake or Green Mountain Inn I chose Green Mountain. I cant say that I was totally diappointed but I was not all that impressed either. Yes, it is a very old, charming inn but old is the word. We had a deluxe room with fireplace that was so small you almost walked right into the queen bed when entering. Equipped with 1980;s TV, some shabby bedspread and metal blinds that were all bent and broken. There are very small, narrow staircases and halls in which you have to carry your own luggage and parking is a bit poor if you are arriving in the winter and have to walk with your bags to check-in. While the staff was friendly I had to give it a lower score b/c of the service. I preordered a bottle of wine to be waiting at our room for 9 o'clock, at 9:30 I called down and by 10 we still did not have it. They did comp it though. The breakfast was really good and The Whip (grill below) was average. Given the choice I think I would stay at Stoweflake(lacks the charm but a very nice hotel with a great spa) or a new place called Stowe Meadows (a boutique lodge). FYI- we went dog sledding at Eden booked through the hotel and it was a blast!
